Recently, the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley was informed about a special opportunity to promote Girl Scouting on CBS national television at an event held at the Mall of America. The council staff received less than 24 hours notice about the Mall of America event in which CBS hoped to get "lots and lots of Girl Scouts to come out and participate." To spread the fun news to nearly 9,000 Girl Scout families and volunteers, that they would have a chance to not only be on the "CBS Early Morning Show," but also get to enjoy the rides at the Park for free between 6-8 a.m., the council utilized Informz to distribute a Girl Scout E-news Flash. Within the hour of sending the e-newsletter, the council had 70 subscribers register, and by midnight they had almost 250 participants! In addition, nearly 500 recipients forwarded the message to other friends and family members. "Using Informz to communicate with our Girl Scout families was by far and away the quickest and most cost-effective way to share this opportunity with our members," said Lisa Hiebert, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley. "It really made our job easy even though we were working with such a short notice." The council staff credits the success of Informz for helping them spread the news and get hundreds of participants. Council staff even had one young Girl Scout giggle tell them that is was "Totally worth getting out of bed early because she had SOOOO much fun." "The event was a success at every level," said Hiebert. "The Girl Scouts and their families had a great time, the Mall and CBS representatives seemed extremely pleased there were so many girls in attendance, and of course we received some nice coverage on national television. It was a win-win for everyone!"
